Talking Trees is a pet-friendly homestay in Wayanad, Kerala, that strives to conserve and nurture the biodiversity of our surrounding environs. Set on the banks of the Panamaram river, about 12 kilometres from Kuruva Island, the property is skirted by lush paddy fields and plantations, with a lazy village backdrop offering you scenic routes for leisurely strolls and cycling. The hosts stay on-site, and offer you the warmth of a home, far removed from a typical commercial resort. We plant trees, and grow our own vegetables and fruits, besides housing a modest number of farm animals. Produce, animal- and plant-based, is either home-grown or locally sourced, entirely free of chemicals, a rarity these days. Talking Trees is your getaway from the daily grind, an off-beat alternative to run-of-the-mill establishments. Get ready for personal attention, great South Indian food and intriguing local folklore!

Wholesome meals are prepared from seasonal produce sourced locally or grown in our farm. A variety of the freshest local fare can be found on the table, and you can take full advantage of seasonal, home-cooked specialities at meal time.
Open areas and sumptuous lawns ensure a safe playground for children, while interacting with farm animals let them connect with nature. A quick dip in the river and a walk across the paddy fields, enjoying the serenity and the crisp morning air can do wonders for your well-being.
Maybe it’s the healthy Wayanad weather, the calm river or the lush green foliage, there is always a lingering air of cheerfulness and positivity, making it the perfect choice for the curious traveller, a romantic getaway, a weekend with the kids, or an outing with friends and family.
We take our community and environment very seriously. Upholding the responsible tourism initiative of the Kerala government, we provide a carefully curated collection of guided tours that gives you a glimpse into the culture and lifestyle of our treasured ethnic communities.
Take a peep into their joint family system, and observe their unique lifestyle, customs, rituals, and traditions. The native communities follow indigenous agricultural and medicinal practices – you will be able to have a first-hand experience of these. Try your hand at traditional fishing methods, observe and enjoy sprawling coffee, arecanut, coconut, ginger and other spice plantations during this journey.
Our guided tours not only provide you with a detailed understanding of Wayanadan village life, but also offer an opportunity to interact with local children, farmers, and traditional medicinal practitioners. Through these responsible tourism initiatives, our valuable guests can help distribute the benefits of tourism among the local community.
Please respect the local way of life, traditions, surroundings, and strictly no littering!
